Kudos for Cargos

By Anonymous on Aug 17, 2012 05:00 pm Not long ago, I noticed a cartoon stapled above the department copier by the late Leo Cullum of the New Yorker Magazine, which is fitting in an odd way for my story. Two guys stand talking in an office. One, the new guy in a business suit, and the other a veteran staffer with shirt, tie, and seriously outfitted cargo pants (complete with bulging patch pockets and zippered compartments).

Building engineers and architects are identified by their hard hats and hi-vis, police officers with their uniforms and badges, and nurses and medical workers are linked to medical scrubs. Med scrubs are usually connected with someone who works in a hospital. It has been that way for quite some time now. Aside from the history, the main reasons why nurses and medical professionals stick with scrubs are their simplicity, reliability, and flexibility which make them ideal, especially with the complexity of work they engage in everyday. However, the thing with scrubs today is that they are becoming obsolete and a little bit un-trendy.

Director Tony Scott had inoperable brain cancer

Tony Scott, director of "Top Gun," "Days of Thunder" and "Crimson Tide," had inoperable brain cancer, a source close to him told ABC News.

The famed director died Sunday after jumping from a bridge in Los Angeles, authorities said.

Police said they received a 911 call at about 12:30 p.m. that an individual had jumped off the Vincent Thomas Bridge. The body was recovered around 3 p.m., when it was identified by authorities as Scott, according to Lt. Joseph Bale of the Los Angeles County Coroner's Office. An autopsy is scheduled to be performed today.

The Coroner's Office found several notes to loved ones in Scott's car, a spokesman told The Associated Press. A suicide note was later found at his office, according to the AP.

"I can confirm that Tony Scott has passed away. The family asks that their privacy is respected at this time," Scott's spokesman, Simon Halls, said in a statement, according to the AP.

Scott, 68, was perhaps best known for directing "Top Gun," starring Tom Cruise in 1986, which went on to gross more than $300 million worldwide, according to IMDB.com. The duo worked again in the 1990 film "Days of Thunder."

The British-born director also frequently worked with Denzel Washington, most recently in the 2010 film "Unstoppable." They collaborated on four other films: "Crimson Tide," "Man on Fire," "Deja Vu" and "The Taking of Pelham 123."

Scott was the younger brother of producer and director Ridley Scott. Together, the brothers formed their own production company, Scott Free Productions. Their company produced the CBS dramas "NUMB3RS" and "The Good Wife."The 2012 blockbuster "Prometheus" was the latest film released by their production company.

Other Tony Scott films include "True Romance," written by Quentin Tarantino, "The Fan," with Robert De Niro, and "Enemy of the State," starring Will Smith.

In a tweet Sunday, director Ron Howard said, "No more Tony Scott movies. Tragic day."

"Most of the obits for Tony Scott will mention "Top Gun" first, but my favorite will always be "True Romance." RIP," tweeted film critic Richard Roeper.

Scott was survived by his wife, Donna, and their twin sons.

Samsung Galaxy S Relay 4G shows off all sides, sticks with new name

The saga of Samsung's Galaxy S Relay 4G (né Galaxy S Blaze Q) continues. In this latest episode, we're presented with an annotated set of pictures showing each side of the device -- courtesy of Samsung's very own US support site. Of course, this further confirms the handset's new name, which is just as terrible as the old name. No matter -- if you're a fan of QWERTY sliders this is definitely a phone to keep an eye on. While the full specs remain a mystery, previous leaks have confirmed HSPA+ 42Mbps support for T-Mobile's AWS network, a 4-inch screen (probably not HD) and a dual-core 1.5GHz processor (likely a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4). There's still no word on pricing or availability, but an official announcement can't be far behind, right?

Garcia shoots 66, takes 1-stroke lead at Wyndham

GREENSBORO, N.C. (AP) ? No lead is ever really safe at birdie-friendly Sedgefield Country Club. The last time Sergio Garcia played here, he learned that the hard way.

Garcia shot a 4-under 66 on Saturday to take the lead at 14-under 196 after three rounds at the Wyndham Championship.

It's a familiar spot for the Spaniard, who shared the third-round lead in 2009 but wound up finishing fourth after falling a stroke shy of a three-man playoff.

"Eighteen pars are not going to win it," Garcia said. "You have to make some birdies out there. ... I don't have a number. I'm not going to say I need to shoot 4 under, 5 under, or whatever. Someone might go out and shoot 9 under, and 5 under's not good enough."

Tim Clark and Bud Cauley were a stroke back, and Jason Dufner, Harris English and Carl Pettersson were at 12 under in the last event before the FedEx Cup playoffs.

Dufner shot a 63 ? the day's best round. Cauley had a 66, Clark shot a 67, and English and Pettersson had 68s.

Garcia ? whose second-round 63 marked his best PGA Tour round in a decade ? made a move with consecutive birdies midway through the back nine that briefly helped him leapfrog his playing partner, Clark.

Garcia plopped his tee shot 4 feet from the flagstick on the par-3 12th and tapped in, then followed that with a birdie on No. 13 to move to 14 under. Then, after just his second bogey of the tournament, he bounced back with a birdie on No. 15.

If he can keep it rolling for one more round, he might claim his first win on the tour since 2008 ? and strengthen his chances to make the European Ryder Cup team.

"Winning means a lot, no matter what," Garcia said.

Clark might have had the lead comfortably to himself, had he not missed short birdie putts on consecutive holes midway through the back nine.

Instead, he'll have to settle for a share of second place with Cauley, who had three straight late birdies.

"Today, the scoring was out there and obviously, the leaders didn't really get away from anyone," Clark said. "I felt like we all could have gone a little bit lower, but it's going to be the same tomorrow, really. A shootout. There's so many guys, probably, still in this tournament."

It's usually a birdiefest every August at this Donald Ross course, but for most players, it seems to be playing a little tougher this year. The cut of 1 under was the event's highest since it moved to Sedgefield in 2008.

The average winner's score in four years at this course has been 19 under, and it sure looks as if this year's champ ? whomever it is ? will approach that number.

Webb Simpson, a native North Carolinian and college star here who won the U.S. Open in June, won it at 18 under last year and came back to defend a title for the first time in his short career.

The only player with consecutive victories in this tournament has his name on the winner's trophy: Sam Snead, who did it twice ? in 1949-50 and 1955-56.

Simpson started one stroke back and a short while after his birdie on the par-5 No. 5 ? the easiest, and most frequently eagled, hole on the course this week ? was part of a six-man logjam that shared the lead at 12 under. Joining him were English, Clark, Garcia, Pettersson and second-round leader Jimmy Walker.

English was the first to backslide with a bogey on No. 11. Walker fell off the pace with a bogey on No. 10.

Simpson ran into big trouble late in his round with consecutive bogeys, sending his tee shot on No. 15 into some deep rough and then three-putting on No. 16, and his 71 dropped him four strokes back.

Dufner, who at No. 3 is the top player in the playoff standings in the Wyndham field, finished strong with birdies on three of his final four holes to sneak up the leaderboard.

"Kind of what I needed to get back in this tournament, post a low score and kind of be in the mix tomorrow," Dufner said.

Justin Leonard, who shot a 64, was one of the biggest movers. He started at 4 under and used a steady stream of birdies to make his climb. He needs a high finish to earn enough points to qualify for the playoffs, which begin next week at The Barclays.

"I know I need a top-three, top-four finish and ... I certainly gave myself a better chance," Leonard said.

Jeff Overton had the first hole-in-one of the week ? and his first on the tour ? on No. 12, using a 6-iron to ace the 196-yard hole. After finishing his round, he tweeted: "What a sweet shot. Too bad i didnt win a car."

What Star Trek Can Teach Us About Great Writing | Writers In The ...

by Kristen Lamb

Writers In The Storm is delighted to welcome Kristen Lamb today. She?s a treasure trove of writing, author and social media know-how so strap in for a great post!

************

Star Trek 2009 ~ Photo from IMDB

I love the 2009 J.J. Abrams rendition of Star Trek. As a writer, stories are my business, so I study them in all forms. Film is a favorite in that it takes far less time and allows me to study the written form in a visual way (a tactic I learned from great writing teacher and NY Times BSA Bob Mayer).

Anyway, I don?t watch movies like most people, much to my husband?s chagrin (he would put tape over my mouth if he could get away with it). This 2009 version of Star Trek did very well at the box office and resonated with audiences in a way that other high-budget fast-paced sci-fi movies had failed. Why?

I believe Star Trek was a wild success because Abrams adhered to some very fundamental storytelling basics too often forgotten in Hollywood and even in writing.

Yes, movies and novels have more in common than you might think. Today?s blog especially applies to sci-fi and fantasy, but I believe all genres can benefit from these lessons I?ve plucked from the silver screen. Today I will address some of my favorite points, because this movie is such a fantastic tool for understanding great storytelling that I couldn?t possibly address all the lessons in one sitting.

Star Trek proved that imperfect characters resonate with audiences.

Audiences LOVE flawed characters. James T. Kirk was deliciously flawed at the beginning. He was on a road to self-destruction believing he could never stand in the shadow of his father?s greatness. He demonstrated how character strengths of a great leader, when not harnessed properly, are tools of great mischief and mayhem. Did the plot really serve to change Kirk? Not really. His attributes were very similar, just refocused in a productive way. The inciting incident really just put Kirk on a path that would make better use of his buccaneer ways.

Time and time again I see new writers become far too fascinated with the too-perfect protagonist (been there and got the T-shirt, myself). The problem with the too-perfect protagonist is that audiences find it difficult to relate. While it might seem counterintuitive, flawed is often better.

Want an illustration from the fiction world? I believe that Twilight is a great example. Bella was deeply flawed and thus readers could easily slip into her shoes. They, too, could look at Edward and long to know what it would be like to be one of the beautiful people.

I think that is why a lot of movies flop. Who can relate to Angelina Jolie? In Tomb Raider she was fun to watch, but we have absolutely no way of connecting with Lara Croft. She is beautiful, insanely rich and lives a life of adventure. The movies would have done better had the writers/directors done something to make Lara Croft real. The first movie did well simply because fans of the video game. Yet, audiences couldn?t connect to this super perfect (and not really likable) character, so the second movie bombed big time. And I am not alone in this assessment. Read Save the Cat by the late screenwriting genius Blake Snyder, which is a great book for all writers to read anyway.

Writers. Can we cast ?ber perfect characters? Sure. But we do so at a risk. Perfect characters easily become one-dimensional and boring. As in movies, we need to connect with a reader, and most of us didn?t sit at that table in high school.

Star Trek perfected showing, not telling.

Star Trek did an unsurpassed job of showing, not telling. Yes, they can info-dump in movies. I gutted through Deadline with the late Brittany Murphy and there were convenient camcorder tapes along the way to info dump back story. There were all kinds of scenes dedicated for the sole purpose of characters discussing a third-party. No, no, no, no, no! Bad writer! Had the screenwriter been in my workshop, he would have gotten zinged.

Virtually everything in Star Trek happened real time. The director didn?t dedicate entire scenes to Spock and Uhura explaining how Kirk was a reckless pain in the tush. Abrams employed scenes that showed Kirk crashing through their lives like a bull in a china shop. There was ONE flashback and it was information critical to understanding the plot.

Star Trek employed parsimony.

One element of showing and not telling is to make the most of your story. Employ setting, symbol and action economy. If a scene can do more than one thing?let it. In the beginning (prologue) Kirk?s mother is pregnant (with him). Bad guys appear, and Dad is left on board as acting captain of the ship. He must sacrifice to save them all.

It is no accident that the director did two things. First, all the battle noises fade away and symphony music rises. Then, the scenes cut from Mom giving birth to Dad giving his life. Birth and death, hope and sacrifice are suddenly in perfect harmony. That was done for a reason. In your novel, do all things on purpose.

Look at your scenes. Can they do more than one task? For some ideas, read my blog Setting?More than Just a Backdrop. Setting can be used for more reasons than to give readers a weather report. Lehane proves my point in Shutter Island (discussed in blog), which is a tremendous example of narrative parsimony.

Star Trek showed character via relativity.

In the beginning we see Kirk as this crazy guy power drinking and zooming around on a crotch rocket. Yet, the director knew he could have a problem. He needed Kirk to be a maverick risk-taker?but he also needed to prove to the audience that his protagonist wasn?t a foolhardy idiot. No one wants to follow a raging moron with a death wish into battle. The director needed to show us someone who cared deeply about others and who was willing to risk everything for his men.

How did he do this?

There is an early scene where they have to do a space jump (think HALO jump). Kirk and Sulu go with a Red Shirt?which means Red Shirt dude is going to die for those who are not Trekkies. Red Shirt guys always bite it. The interesting thing is that the Red Shirt guy is hooping and hollering all the way down like some idiot out of a Mountain Dew commercial. Kirk pulls his chute and begs the guy to open his. Red Shirt is too busy being a thrill-seeking idiot and ends up vaporized. Now we the audience can see Kirk takes huge risks, but we also understand that he cares about others and is not stupid.

Star Trek relied on character and story.

This is the single most important lesson for those writing sci-fi, fantasy, paranormal or horror. Tell us a story about people first. Relying on gadgets and gimmicks is not storytelling (if you ever need a reminder, just go check out this post about the Star Wars prequels).

There are all kinds of space movies that had far better special effects than the original Star Wars (the GOOD ones), yet Star Wars endures and will endure to future generations. Why? Because it told a story about people first. I believe this Star Trek did the same and that is why it is a movie that will endure for generations.

I never could get through the newest Star Wars prequels. Why? Because there was so much CGI (computer generated imagery) that I felt like I was trapped at Chuck E. Cheese?s and having a bad LSD trip. I felt the computer images were far too distracting. From the comments on?on my Star Wars Prequels?post, I finally realize I am not alone.

Star Trek, on the other hand, used CGI, but not at the expense of the real focus . . . the stories about the people.

I edit a lot of writers who want to write YA, fantasy, paranormal, etc. and too often they allow world-building to take over. The reader is so bogged down in gimmick that she cannot see the characters or the story. Frequently there isn?t a story.

World-building is something a writer must employ to assist or accentuate the core conflict.

Our goal as writers must be to get a reader to relate and connect. People connect with people, not worlds. Conflict drives stories, not gizmos. Thus, all the magic and myth must be ancillary to the root story. If you have done a good job of plotting, that root story will be very simple and timeless and could take place in Kansas or on Planet Doom.

For those of you who haven?t watched J.J. Abrams? 2009 Star Trek, I highly recommend it (duh :D ) even if you aren?t a fan of sci-fi.

What are some of your favorite movies and why? How did the story capture you? Why does it resonate? What are your thoughts on the new Star Trek? What did you like? What fell short?

Advice On How To Do Plumbing Right

Proper plumbing is essential to maintaining your home. No matter how prepared you are, plumbing problems can crop up, and calling in a professional can be costly. In this article, you will find several excellent pieces of advice that will help you improve, maintain, or fix your plumbing.

Check your fixtures to ensure the overflow holes are clear of debris and mineral build-up. Overflow holes drain water if a sink begins to overfill, so they need to be clear at all times. Inspect and clean the overflow holes as part of your regular household maintenance.

Apply glue made specifically for the material your pipes are made of to ensure a tight seal. Home improvement and plumbing stores carry the products you need and also offer great advice.

Make sure to clean out the dryers lint trap. This will ensure that your dryer operates efficiently and prevents fires. You also need to be sure the lint trap is free of holes or small openings that could allow lint to get to your pipes. This could result in other problems in your home to deal with.

If you have any water in your dishwasher that should not be there, check the connection on your kitchen sink. The hose going from the dishwasher to the sink needs to angle uphill before going back downhill to prevent water from both being mixed.

Don?t use drain cleaners if you can avoid it. The chemicals found in drain cleaners are very corrosive, and can end up damaging your pipes if you use them too much. Sometimes, finding a professional to fix a blocked drain is the best way to solve the problem.

When you install a water heater, take a close look at the drainage and make sure the pipe is connected. It is usually a recirculation pipe. This pipe is essential to keeping your water nice and warm without wasting water, which will help keep your bills down.

Wait to give compensation to a plumber until they are finished with their work. It is customary for many companies to require you to put money down before they begin the job, but always wait to pay the rest of the balance until the job is totally finished. It is vital that you check your plumber has done all the work he promised before you have over the full payment. This will protect you against being scammed by fraudulent tradesmen.

This article should have shown you all the tips and tricks you need to start repairing your plumbing by yourself. This knowledge is extremely valuable not only for fixing up your own home, but also for not having to rely on other people.

REAL ESTATE: Home building and overall home sales up

BY DEBRA GRUSZECKI

Residential real estate headlines this past week have been far from the type a year or two ago when doom and gloom reports roiled over the landscape.

Homebuilder confidence was reported to be up for the fourth month in a row across America. New home sales and the median price rose in Riverside and San Bernardino?

Cancer survivors, siblings miss more school days

NEW YORK (Reuters Health) - Years after they were first diagnosed, childhood cancer survivors - along with their brothers and sisters - missed twice as many school days as other kids, according to a new study.

Researchers found that childhood cancer survivors and their siblings missed - on average - 10 days of school during the 2009 academic year, while other students in the same school district missed an average of five days.

Those findings are concerning, according to the authors, because past research found kids who missed the most school were less likely to achieve academically, graduate high school or go to college than others with better attendance.

And while childhood cancer survivors might miss school because of ongoing medical issues, the study's lead author said she was surprised to see their brothers and sisters missing just as many days.

"We had originally intended (the siblings) to be more of a control group and were quite surprised to see that they missed about twice as many days as the general population," said Dr. Amy French, a pediatrician at The Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto.

For the study, French and her colleagues looked at the report cards of 131 childhood cancer survivors who were in first through twelfth grade and came to their hospital for checkups. They also collected the report cards for 77 of the survivors' brothers and sisters.

The researchers then compared the number of absences among survivors and their siblings, and among all of the kids in the Toronto school district.

After subtracting the days survivors spent at the hospital for checkups, the researchers found that survivors and their siblings missed about the same number of days - 9.6 days and 9.9 days, respectively.

When they looked at all the kids in Toronto, however, the researchers found cancer survivors and their siblings missed about twice as much school as the other kids' five days.

And that, according to the researchers in The Journal of Pediatrics, is - on average - 10 years after the survivors were diagnosed with their cancers.

SOMETHING IN THE FAMILY?

"You would think (cancer survivors) might miss school for ongoing issues with pain, fatigue and headaches, but not necessarily their siblings," said Jordan Gilleland, a pediatric psychologist at the Aflac Cancer Center of Children's Healthcare of Atlanta and Emory University.

Gilleland, who was not involved with the new research, told Reuters Health the fact that both survivors and their siblings missed the same amount of school suggests there is something going on within the family system related to attendance.

But the researchers can't say what, because only the survivors were asked why they didn't go to school.

French did say, however, that they suspect families of childhood cancer survivors may see their children as more vulnerable than other parents, and may also be more forgiving about missing school.

But that theory still needs to be investigated by future studies, and French said that people should know these are only the findings of one study in one population and that the results need to be replicated.

As for now, French said the findings of this study are still helpful.

"This highlights the fact that we can tell the families that despite that we feel like we're doing a good job of getting our kids to school, we're really not," she said.

Gilleland added that parents should also tell their child's doctor if they're refusing to go to school.

"It's important to have those conversations and to think about school as a huge piece of the survivors' life and that it's important for their continued success," said Gilleland.

Create A Beautiful Garden With These Great Tips - Family Farm and ...

Horticulture is a thing people have loved for hundreds of years. It can be enjoyed as a pleasant hobby, or it may be performed for the purpose of providing fresh food for your family. This article will shed some light on the horticulture process, and the many rewards it reaps.

Some houseplants may require re-potting, and others resent having their roots disturbed. It is simple to determine which plants need to be re-potted. Just flip them over and tap until the plant falls out on its own. Your plant may need a new pot if you only see mostly roots. However, if there are only a small amount of roots showing or none at all, your plant is doing just fine in its original pot.

It is important to allow cuts to completely heal before you do any gardening in order to protect the cut from exposure to dirt or chemicals. A cut or abrasion can become infected if it is not properly protected from dirt, pesticides and other irritants. Bandages are available that will completely cover the cut so that this cannot happen.

Knee Pads

It is a good idea to invest in a good pair of knee pads, made specifically for gardening. They can be very helpful when working close to the ground on low-growth plants. Gardening can really put a lot of pressure on your knees that will leave you cramped and uncomfortable. Having a pair of excellent knee pads for gardening can help cushion the knees to provide additional comfort.

Start your plant in pots before you plant them in your garden. This really increases the survival rate of young plants. In addition, it lets you tighten the time in between plantings. The seedlings are ready to go, once you remove the mature plants.

Set up a plan for your vegetable garden! Make a detailed list of everything that you would like to plant, and include a clear drawing of your available growing space. You can then use that drawing to plan out where each item should be planted. Remember to take into consideration the plant size at maturity, including height and width, as well as their sun and moisture requirements.

Grow heather so that you can attract useful insects. Bees will go straight for these plants in the spring. If your heather bed is undisturbed, as it would be in nature, many beneficial insects will make it their home. With this in mind, be sure to prune your heather while wearing gardening gloves.

Cold Weather

Some varieties of annuals can look beautiful in cold weather. Prune these plants back to keep them looking their best if they begin looking overgrown. After a few short weeks, these plants will bloom once more and they will look beautiful during the autumn time. The best cold weather annuals are petunias and snapdragons.

Create useful rulers from your tool handles. Tools with long handles, such as shovels, hoes and rakes can be made into measuring sticks. Lay the tools down on the floor, then place a measuring tape along the handle. Then, with a permanent marker, you want to label distances. Now when you go garden the next time, you?ll have a giant ruler at your command.

Be an ecological friendly gardener and use rainwater for your plants. Almost any container, such as a barrel, is suitable to collect rain water. This will not only lower your water bill, it will conserve a natural resource too. This is a money-saving step that?s eco-friendly and completely natural.

For showy flowers throughout the spring and summer, plant plenty of bulbs. Planting and growing bulbs is very simple, and once planted the bulbs will grow for years. Different bulbs will bloom during different time periods. Therefore, if you select your bulbs correctly, you could have blooms in your garden for all of spring and summer.

Put together a calendar for planning your garden. This calendar allows you to plan ahead for each planting season. Having a schedule will allow you to prepare by making the purchases you need when you need them. Planting calenders can be created with a computer program either purchased or found online, but they can also be handwritten.

Among the most effective of all gardening techniques is mulching. Mulching also works to slow water evaporation and limit weed growth.

As previously discussed, horticulture has been enjoyed by civilizations for centuries. It was a requirement and a way of life a long time ago. Now, it can be for profit, need, or pleasure. The stuff from this article can make your horticulture experience more enjoyable. You are going to gain a greater appreciation for the benefits you reap from your horticulture efforts.

What if TweetChat is your Organization's Primary Customer Service ...

That?s kind of a scary question for many organizations. They talk about being socially transparent, dream of a lofty Klout score, and can only imagine the number of followers they?d attract. Then they imagine the horrible though of that hashtag trending because of some really bad situation ? one for which they were caught totally unprepared. Then what?

We started pondering this question a while back and have finally started to put enough frame work around the issues that I thought I?d start what may become a series of blog posts. We?ve been watching some trends in the ?socialization? of customer service and I?m starting to ?see? what I think customer service organizations will look like in the next few years.

You can get some of our background information by visiting few of Michael?s posts and a few of our Association Night videos (fill in with copious links to SSU content) if you?re interested in the earlier work and thoughts which underlay this idea. (add links to: what is a tweetchat, the social association, etc.)

I believe over the next ?bit? of time, we will experience less telephone and email traffic from a customer service perspective and more real-time chat and social network interaction with our ?customers?. Some of it will be direct (where people actually bring a problem to us) but much of it will be indirect (someone leaves a problem comment or compliment somewhere on the ?net). I don?t think this is a change in behavior as much as it is a change in communication style and technology evolution (people have always uses back channels to communicate ? especially negative stuff).

There is lots of chatter on the ?net these days about the ?social organization?; techniques to encourage more social participation by your ?customers?, ways to make your employees more ?socially accessible?, increasing organization transparency through social engagement, etc.

In my mind ? if we extended all of these techniques and objectives down the road a bit ? don?t we ultimately reach the question ?what if we used TweetChat for all of our customer interaction??

Wouldn?t that be a ?good? destination for a socially engaged, transparent, responsive organization ? all of our customer service interactions right there ? for all the world to see. If we weren?t responsive, they?d know, if we were rude, they?d know ? that?s a lot of risk if you?re not confident.

Imagine what could happen if you actually embedded a TweetChat-like online chat on your website.

  1. You wouldn?t need to invest in some private label Online Chat tool for your site. Big savings and a reduced timeline to get it developed. The Twitter API makes this a very real possibility without a ton of effort. And the best part ? Twitter is the infrastructure and responsible for the infrastructure ? your support costs are almost $0.
  2. Your ?branded? TweetChat could be used by your Members anytime to exchange ideas.Imagine the possibilities to innovate and drive your initiatives forward when groups of your Members choose to meet at 7:30 Tuesdays to discuss the ?next big thing? for your industry. Think about the opportunities to attract non-members to the discussions ? gain their thoughts and maybe draw them into your forward thinking organization.
  3. Your Member Services team would be naturally supporting your social media strategies just by interacting with the people in this channel. You?d reduce the additional overhead of needing to ?make time? to train, or for them to open the networks to see if there was any activity, etc. It just happens.
  4. Transparency garners trust ? you?d have that in spades!

This idea has been a pretty hot topic around our office ? the team seems to like the idea and are bringing a lot of great considerations to the discussion. Stay tuned for some updates in this area as we continue to bake this into something more actionable.

What do you think your world would look like if all of the sudden your CSO (Chief Social Officer) decided you would use TweetChat for all of your Customer Service interactions?
